Sam Booth was born in 1979 and raised in London, the son of a musician and a primary school headteacher. He studied literature at the University of York and is now an actor, writer and voiceover artist.

Since 2004 he has frequently collaborated with the theatre company Punchdrunk, devising and performing roles in many of their large-scale immersive productions, such as Sleep No More, Faust and The Firebird Ball. He is best known for his performance as the studio boss Mr Stanford in the huge cult hit The Drowned Man: A Hollywood Fable, which ran for over a year in London. If you saw that show, you will certainly have heard Sam’s voice welcoming you into the lift or calling the shots throughout the fictitious movie studios where the action unfolded.

His is also the voice of worldwide commercials for Castello Cheese. His other voice credits include several TV documentaries, including A Piece of the Moon, Cotton Wool Kids and My VE Day (C4), as well as audioguides and films for Tate Gallery and a permanent video installation in the crypt of St Paul’s Cathedral.
