Roger Barclay initially attended The Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst and after an early career as a British Cavalry Officer, he earned an acting scholarship at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art, whose alumni include Minnie Driver, Julian Fellowes, Terence Stamp, Angela Lansbury, Julia Ormond, Hugh Bonneville, Rupert Friend and Eva Green.
Whilst still at drama school he was cast as Captain Carter in Pride and Prejudice alongside Oscar winner Colin Firth. For five years he played Terence Cunningham, Chairman of the Board in the BBC flagship hospital drama Holby City. He is known in the US as Rufus Zeno from Nickelodeon’s teen gothic drama House of Anubis.
He has gone on to star in over 50 television, film and commercial productions, notably the 2008 BAFTA winning film Mark of Cain and recently received EMMY Award consideration for Best Supporting Actor (Comedy Series) in ShowTime’s’ Secret Diary of a Call Girl where he was invited and accepted as an Emmy Academy member.
He has filmed all over Europe working for such companies as VW, Deutsche Bank, Boots, Swiss Post and HBOS; and in the USA, television campaigns for Coca-Cola, United Airlines and Mercedes. As a trained classical actor he has worked extensively in the British Theatre, from West End productions to large-scale touring. He has also undertaken voluntary work as an actor for the UK homeless charity Shelter and appeared in campaigns for Cystic Fibrosis.
