Jon Severity started his “theatrical” life as a singer in various punk rock and avante garde bands. After a stint at Radio Luxembourg as a trainee tape operator and mailboy, he moved onto theatre, with productions such as Les Miserables at the Palace Theatre and the Festival of Erotica at Paul Raymond’s Revuebar.
He moved to Los Angeles in the mid-80’s and co ran the LA branch of London’s Forbidden Planet book store, supplying the needs of the directors and writers of Hollywood. At the same time he was an in-house songwriter for Capital Records, and had minor roles in film and TV including Wayne’s World, The Minsters, Queens Logic and Star Trek: The New Generation. He also moved into voiceover work, with campaigns for BMW, Grey Poupon and various cable continuity spots.
Moving back to London in the early 90’s, he returned to the Raymond Revue bar as the stage and company manager, all the while creating artworks and exhibitions that focus on British pop culture and its social impact.
